EST Excellence: NFL Week 6

Week 6 of the 2026 NFL season delivered some outstanding individual performances, with several players stepping up when their teams needed them most.

From Tyler Shough leading New Orleans to a much-needed victory to C.J. Stroud delivering in a dramatic London showdown, the quarterback position provided plenty of excitement.

Meanwhile, several young wide receivers continued making their mark, including Jaylin Noel, who delivered the best performance of his young career.

As always, EST Excellence recognizes the three best performances at quarterback and wide receiver, awarding Gold, Silver, and Bronze based on individual production, impact, and the importance of each performance.

Let’s hand out the Week 6 awards.

Quarterback Excellence

🥇 Gold — Tyler Shough (New Orleans Saints)

Week 6 Stats: 144 Passing Yards, 3 Passing TDs, 32 Rushing Yards, 1 Rushing TD

Tyler Shough takes home Gold following his four-touchdown performance in New Orleans’ 34–27 victory over the New York Giants.

The Saints found themselves trailing 10–0 early, but what followed was an incredible turnaround.

New Orleans scored 34 unanswered points, completely flipping the game on its head, with Shough leading the charge.

Shough didn’t put up massive passing yardage, completing 16 of 30 attempts for 144 yards, but he made his opportunities count.

Three passing touchdowns and another score on the ground gave the Saints the offensive production they needed to end their three-game losing streak.

Perhaps most importantly, Shough didn’t throw a single interception.

After a dreadful performance against Minnesota in Week 5, this was exactly the response New Orleans needed from its quarterback.

Shough demonstrated his ability to contribute both through the air and on the ground, and his four total touchdowns earn him this week’s EST Excellence Gold.

🥈 Silver — C.J. Stroud (Houston Texans)

Week 6 Stats: 312 Passing Yards, 3 Passing TDs, 1 INT

C.J. Stroud earns Silver after leading Houston to a thrilling 34–31 victory over Jacksonville in London.

Stroud completed 24 of 34 passes for 312 yards and three touchdowns, producing one of his strongest performances of the season.

The Texans entered this matchup desperately needing a victory, and their quarterback delivered.

Despite throwing an interception, Stroud continued attacking Jacksonville’s defense and kept Houston in position to win.

With the game tied late in the fourth quarter, Stroud helped move the Texans into field goal range, setting up Ka’imi Fairbairn’s game-winning 49-yard kick as time expired.

Houston’s season hasn’t gone according to plan, but performances like this remind everyone what Stroud is capable of.

An excellent outing earns him Silver.

🥉 Bronze — Drake Maye (New England Patriots)

Week 6 Stats: 235 Passing Yards, 3 Passing TDs, 0 INT

Drake Maye continues to impress.

The Patriots quarterback earns Bronze following another strong performance in New England’s 26–19 victory over the New York Jets.

Maye completed 18 of 32 passes for 235 yards and three touchdowns without throwing an interception.

It wasn’t his most efficient performance, but he delivered where it mattered most: the scoreboard.

New England has now won three consecutive games, and Maye has played an enormous role in the Patriots’ recent success.

After an outstanding four-touchdown performance against Las Vegas in Week 5, Maye followed it up with another three-touchdown outing.

Seven passing touchdowns across two games is impressive, regardless of the opponent.

Maye is quickly establishing himself as one of the NFL’s most exciting young quarterbacks, and another excellent performance earns him Bronze.

Wide Receiver Excellence

🥇 Gold — Jaylin Noel (Houston Texans)

Week 6 Stats: 107 Receiving Yards, 1 Receiving TD

Jaylin Noel takes home Gold following a career-best performance in Houston’s dramatic victory over Jacksonville.

The young receiver recorded 107 receiving yards and a touchdown, providing C.J. Stroud with a dangerous option in the passing game.

Houston needed somebody to step up offensively, and Noel answered the call.

His ability to generate big plays helped the Texans keep pace with Jacksonville in a game where every possession mattered.

For a young receiver still establishing himself in the NFL, performances like this can be a major confidence booster.

Noel wasn’t simply putting up numbers in a meaningless game. His production helped Houston secure an important victory.

A career-best outing earns Jaylin Noel his first EST Excellence Gold.

🥈 Silver — Jaxon Smith-Njigba (Seattle Seahawks)

Week 6 Stats: 12 Receptions, 134 Receiving Yards, 0 TD

Jaxon Smith-Njigba continues to be one of the few consistent bright spots in Seattle’s offense.

Despite the Seahawks suffering another disappointing defeat, Smith-Njigba recorded 12 receptions for 134 yards, once again proving himself to be Sam Darnold’s most reliable target.

Seattle’s inability to establish a consistent running game has placed enormous pressure on its passing attack, yet Smith-Njigba continues to produce.

That’s what makes his performances so impressive.

Opposing defenses know Seattle wants to get him the football, but he continues finding ways to make an impact.

The Seahawks have plenty of problems to address, but Smith-Njigba certainly isn’t one of them.

Another impressive outing earns him Silver.

🥉 Bronze — Matthew Golden (Green Bay Packers)

Week 6 Stats: 6 Receptions, 104 Receiving Yards, 1 TD

Matthew Golden earns Bronze following his performance in Green Bay’s 23–13 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

Golden finished with six receptions for 104 yards and a touchdown, giving Jordan Love another dangerous weapon in the passing game.

However, his performance wasn’t without mistakes.

Despite finding the end zone once, Golden dropped two additional touchdown opportunities that could have made his stat line considerably more impressive.

And that’s precisely why he finishes with Bronze rather than a higher award.

Those dropped touchdowns matter. EST Excellence isn’t simply about looking at the final numbers; it’s about evaluating the entire performance, including the opportunities players fail to capitalize on.

Golden still deserves recognition for surpassing 100 receiving yards and helping Green Bay secure its third consecutive victory.

But two missed touchdown opportunities prevent him from climbing any higher on this week’s podium.

Final Thoughts

Week 6 demonstrated that impressive individual performances aren’t always about putting up the biggest yardage totals.

Tyler Shough earns Gold after accounting for four touchdowns while helping New Orleans erase an early deficit with 34 unanswered points. C.J. Stroud and Drake Maye round out the quarterback podium after strong performances of their own.

At wide receiver, Jaylin Noel takes Gold following a career-best outing, Jaxon Smith-Njigba continues producing despite Seattle’s struggles, and Matthew Golden earns Bronze after an impressive but imperfect performance.

With Week 7 approaching, the competition for EST Excellence is only getting stronger.

Who deserved Gold this week? Did we overlook anybody?
