The Dallas Cowboys looked dead in the water at halftime.
Then CeeDee Lamb and Javonte Williams completely took over.
Dallas erased a 10-point halftime deficit and defeated the Houston Texans 34–30 in a wild finish, with Dak Prescott finding Lamb for the game-winning touchdown with just 43 seconds remaining.
Lamb was absolutely sensational, finishing with a career-high 17 receptions for 189 yards and a touchdown, while Williams scored three rushing touchdowns — all in the second half.
Houston had multiple opportunities to finally secure its first victory of the season, but Dallas delivered when it mattered most.
The Cowboys improve to 2–2, while the Texans fall to a brutal 0–4.
First Quarter
Houston couldn’t have asked for a much better start.
C.J. Stroud immediately attacked Dallas through the air, connecting with Nico Collins for a 45-yard gain on the Texans’ opening possession.
Later in the drive, Stroud went back to Collins for a seven-yard touchdown.
Houston led 7–0.
Dallas responded with a 39-yard Brandon Aubrey field goal, but the Texans continued moving the football and Ka’imi Fairbairn connected from 51 yards to restore the seven-point advantage.
Houston’s offense looked comfortable, while Dallas was struggling to turn its possessions into touchdowns.
End of First Quarter: Texans 10, Cowboys 3.
Second Quarter
Dallas opened the second-quarter scoring with another field goal, this time from 50 yards, cutting Houston’s lead to 10–6.
But once again, the Cowboys couldn’t finish drives.
Houston wasn’t scoring touchdowns either, but Fairbairn continued punishing Dallas.
He connected from 39 yards to make it 13–6 before drilling a 54-yarder just before halftime.
Dallas went into the locker room having failed to score a single touchdown.
Houston had control.
Halftime: Texans 16, Cowboys 6.
At that point, the Cowboys needed something to change quickly.
It did.
Third Quarter
Dallas came out of halftime looking like a completely different football team.
KaVontae Turpin’s 48-yard kickoff return immediately gave the Cowboys excellent field position.
Four plays later, Williams scored from eight yards out.
Suddenly, it was 16–13.
Houston responded immediately.
Jaylin Noel produced a 53-yard kickoff return of his own, and Stroud eventually connected with Collins for a 22-yard touchdown.
Collins’ second score of the afternoon pushed Houston’s lead back to 10 at 23–13.
Dallas refused to disappear.
Prescott launched a 53-yard completion to George Pickens, and the Cowboys eventually got the football down to the one-yard line.
Williams finished the drive.
His second touchdown made it 23–20.
What had looked like a comfortable Houston advantage was now a three-point game.
End of Third Quarter: Texans 23, Cowboys 20.
Javonte Williams Gives Dallas the Lead
Dallas carried that momentum into the fourth quarter.
The Cowboys put together a long 14-play, 81-yard possession, methodically moving down the field before Williams powered in from two yards out.
His third touchdown of the second half finally put Dallas in front.
Cowboys 27, Texans 23.
Williams finished with 62 rushing yards, but the yardage doesn’t tell the story.
Three touchdowns.
Three enormous scores in the second half.
Every time Dallas reached the goal line, Williams finished the job.
Houston Answers With a Wild Drive
The Texans weren’t finished.
With their backs against the wall, Stroud led an outstanding 87-yard drive late in the fourth quarter.
Houston eventually faced third-and-14 from the Dallas 27.
Then came one of the most creative plays of the afternoon.
Stroud completed a short pass to Dalton Schultz, who lateraled the football to David Montgomery. Montgomery took it another 19 yards and suddenly Houston was at the Dallas six-yard line.
One play later, Woody Marks ran it into the end zone.
Houston had retaken the lead.
Texans 30, Cowboys 27.
There were only 2:26 remaining.
Dallas needed a touchdown.
Dak and CeeDee Deliver
Prescott got the football back with the game on the line and calmly went to work.
Dallas marched 74 yards in 11 plays.
The Cowboys even faced a fourth down during the possession, but kept the drive alive.
Then, with less than a minute remaining, Prescott found the player who had tormented Houston’s defense all afternoon.
CeeDee Lamb.
Prescott hit Lamb over the middle for a 12-yard touchdown.
Dallas had taken the lead with just 43 seconds remaining.
Cowboys 34, Texans 30.
Houston had one final opportunity, but Stroud’s desperation attempt fell incomplete.
Game over.
CeeDee Lamb Was Unstoppable
What Lamb did against Houston deserves its own section.
17 receptions.
189 receiving yards.
1 touchdown.
The game-winning catch.
Houston simply could not stop him.
Lamb set a new career high in receptions and repeatedly gave Prescott an answer when Dallas needed one.
Prescott finished 32-of-45 for 335 yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions.
His only touchdown pass happened to be the biggest throw of the game.
George Pickens only caught two passes, but still finished with 75 yards thanks largely to his huge 53-yard reception.
Dallas finished with 399 total yards and didn’t turn the football over once.
Stroud and Collins Deserved Better
This wasn’t a poor offensive performance from Houston.
Far from it.
Stroud completed 21 of 31 passes for 347 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Collins was outstanding in his return to the lineup, catching seven passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns.
Houston averaged an explosive 7.6 yards per play and finished with 397 total yards — only two fewer than Dallas.
Yet the Texans still lost.
Penalties certainly didn’t help.
Houston was flagged 13 times for 90 yards, compared with six penalties for Dallas.
When you’re 0–3 and desperately trying to get your first victory, giving away that many yards makes life significantly harder.
Final Thoughts
Houston has to be sick after this one.
The Texans led 16–6 at halftime.
They led by 10 again during the third quarter.
And even after Dallas stormed back, Houston responded with an incredible late touchdown drive to take a 30–27 lead with just over two minutes remaining.
It still wasn’t enough.
Dallas’ stars took over.
Williams scored three touchdowns.
Prescott delivered with the game on the line.
And Lamb produced one of the best receiving performances of the NFL season before catching the game-winning touchdown.
For Dallas, this is exactly the type of comeback that can change the direction of a season.
For Houston, it’s another devastating loss.
Final: Cowboys 34, Texans 30.
Dallas climbs back to .500 at 2–2.
Houston falls to 0–4 and is still searching for its first win of 2026.
