When I heard the Browns had traded Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams, I nearly dropped my phone on my way home from my walk.
Was I surprised? Honestly, no.
The Rams have been all-in for years now. If they believe a move gives them a better chance to win a Super Bowl, they’ll make it. Draft picks have never seemed to scare them, and they’ve shown time and time again that they’re willing to sacrifice tomorrow if it improves their chances today.
In my opinion, Myles Garrett is the most dominant defensive player we’ve seen in years. After breaking the single-season sack record, there’s no question he’s capable of changing a franchise’s defense almost overnight. And if the Rams can convince arguably the greatest defensive player of all time, Aaron freakin’ Donald, to come out of retirement, the rest of the NFL should be on notice, oh and they also pretty much signed the entire Chiefs DB room with McDuffie and Jaylen Watson.
Do I think this guarantees another Super Bowl? Of course not. The NFL is too competitive to promise anything. But do I think this makes the Rams one of the teams to beat? Absolutely.
Whether you agree with the Rams’ philosophy or not, one thing is certain: they’re never afraid to take a swing. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t—but you can’t question their commitment to winning.
